Battery Park City

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Bespoke design and painted ceilings create a personal, original home.

This fun, globetrotting couple decided it was time to trade in their duplex stairs for a window wrapped apartment. The footprint of their new home is smaller, with fewer walls on which to hang their travel treasures. I created alternate floor plans to determine what furniture would move and which pieces would get donated. A color consultation followed—a unique experience since they are both color blind. Their personalized color palette included red and a very particular shade of teal they can “see”. Specific interior design wishes included: a home office/guest room which could one day be used by an in-home nurse, and a master bedroom inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater House. I opted for painted ceilings throughout, allowing their art collection to stand out on neutral walls. A convertible sofa/wall bed offers functionality for both a professional space and a guest room, and bespoke furniture brought the Fallingwater-inspired master bedroom to life.
