PROJECT OVERVIEW

A Second Home you’ll miss when you’re gone

This 2-bedroom apartment in Battery Park City is 1 of my client’s 3 homes. The unique challenge for this second home interior design and renovation was to create a space that would be comfortable for business trips in the short term, and college-bound daughters in the long term.

The master bathroom remodel was dictated by a preselected copper clawfoot tub. I chose a porcelain tile with a patinated appearance for the walls and marble for the floor. Despite a surprisingly different look, consistent design was achieved by transposing the materials in the guest bathroom.

The kitchen—and closet turned bar—feature a dramatic Brazilian quartzite backsplash and countertop surrounded by custom millwork.

This interior renovation also included installation of an A/V system, insulating  and skim coating walls, replacing wood floors, and closet redesign. Opting for sustainable, eco-friendly interior design, we recycled materials from the existing kitchen and bathrooms through Renovation Angel. This reduced the carbon footprint of the project, and afforded my client a tax deduction!
